I am very curious to know what the feel is from surfers toward people shooting from the beach/pier? I have so far only shot pictures of people I know personally so every session has been under consent. However I had a moment the other day where I had a friend framed in the water waiting for a set - the guy next to him raised his arm out the water and flipped me the bird and for a good long while. I chuckled and went about my business.
Should I be concerned over confrontation? Am I stepping over a line?
personally i love people taking shots of me especially videos..makes me learn from my mistakes..but maby some surfers might think you'll clame it to be someone els or something..lol
Thanks Schalk, thats a great perspective. The guys I take pictures of have made similar comments on how pictures help them see themselves in a new light. In particular - how much space they think they had to work with when turning, and then seeing how much more space they really had.
im also into surfing photography and videography..im just waiting for my camera to come!!
Hey Schalk, did your camera finally come? What did you get?
I have found it to be a positive thing, never had anyone not wanting to have their shot taken, and have often had guys come up to me when they got out to ask if I got any shots of them, and they are always willing to buy a sick shot.
